W. Thomas McBride

W. Thomas McBride was one of the founding members of the firm Mayfield, Turner, O’Mara, Donnelly & McBride, established in January 1991, and headed up the firm’s Philadelphia office.  He joined Delany & O’Brien in 2011 and Delany McBride in 2014.  He has many years of trial and appellate experience defending manufacturers and suppliers of a variety of products – industrial, chemical, and consumer.  He has tried cases involving fatalities, serious injury, and complicated damages.

About

His clients also include major manufacturers of fire safety /security devices, industrial equipment (pumps, compressors, manufacturing-assembly equipment, steel-production equipment), elevators, escalators and automated walkways.  Other areas of civil litigation include toxic exposure, medical/other professional malpractice, employment discharge, ADA and FMLA claims, insurance coverage, contract and commercial disputes, construction site injuries, construction defect claims, defamation, public entity liability, premises, automobile and general cases of negligence.

Tom exemplifies the critical difference between the lawyer experienced in “litigation” and the experienced “trial lawyer” who possesses the skill, courage and hard-earned experience to be effective before a judge and jury.  The skilled trial attorney is also better equipped to reach a more favorable resolution, whether early in the case or during trial itself.  When a client’s matter cannot be settled, the client deserves the experienced perspective of a seasoned litigator with a lengthy list of trials under his belt. While in law school, Tom served as a prosecutor in student disciplinary proceedings.  He was the 1983 recipient of his Law School’s American Jurisprudence Award for the study of administrative law.  He was admitted to the bar in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and state of New Jersey in 1983.  After completing a judicial clerkship in 1983-1984, he entered practice.  Mr. McBride has tried cases throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  He has appeared before the appellate courts in both states and has argued before the Supreme Court of New Jersey in which he made new law in the area of common law, sovereign immunity.  He is also admitted to the United State District Court of New Jersey, and to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.  He has been admitted pro hac vice at the request of his clients to try cases of significant exposure in other jurisdictions.
